In 2022/23 I wrote about 62 minutes of piano music entitled
'Impromptus und Interationen'.
12 Impromptus and 4 Interationen.
The Interationen are with preparations or/and are (partly) being played inside.
The work follows a certain dramaturgy.
Nevertheless other combinations, shorter versions, taking out the prepared piano Interationen - all this is possible.
For a concert due to the preparations and the removal of them it might be a good idea to begin with Interation #1.
Vitalii Kyianytsia recorded the complete series in march of 2024 on a Fazioli Grand Piano.
It was released on Kairos Music, Vienna in september, 2024.

From the Liner Notes by Reinhard Kager:
'It are these inherent cross-references that permeate the piano cycle, but also the constantly surprising twists and turns that make Ullmann's "Impromptus and Interations" so stimulating.
And first and foremost, of course, the aforementioned slowing down of time.
It seems as if the Berlin musician had had enough of all the agitated progress that determines the developmental logic of capitalism and instead impressively refers to the power of pausing and reflecting on misguided processes.
It was not Romanticism that inspired Ullmann to write his piano cycle, but the stoic-contemplative piano music of Erik Satie, of which clear echoes can be heard in Impromptu #7.
With this, Ullmann thus offers a promising counter-model to the artificial overheating of our time.'
